"Didn't Our Hearts Burn Within Us?" (March 26)

SuperStock_999-3381.jpgLuke 24:13-35 has always been my favorite of the post-resurrection appearances - the Road to Emmaus.

Marcus Borg and John Dominic Crossan call this story "marvelously suggestive."

"The risen Jesus opens up the meaning of scripture. The risen Jesus is known in the sharing of bread. The risen Jesus journeys with us, whether we know it or not. There are moments in which we do come to know him and recognize him. This story is a metaphoric condensation of several years of Christian thought in one parabolic afternoon."

I hope we stay on that road and that our hearts always burn within us.
