Dismantle a Bomb

For a couple of years now, I’ve been using Common Prayer: A Liturgy for Ordinary Radicals to guide my daily scripture reading and prayer. At the end of each month it gives some practical ideas under the heading, “Becoming the Answer to Our Prayers.” One suggestion found at the end of December was, “Dismantle a bomb. Or dismantle a theological argument that justifies bombs. Or dismantle an ideology of security and consumption that requires bombs.”

My prayer is that in 2014 Christ’s body may see more clearly that “the weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world” so that we may “demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).
